Tinted lithograph, 18 x 27 cms, blank verso.
From “Vues de Londres” by Charles Francois Riffardeau, Duc de Riviere. These printer’s marks are usually to be found at the corners of the print but are here cleverly concealed in appropriate parts of the picture - on the bowsprit of a ship, at the hub of a wheel, the bullseye of a lantern or pierced through a child’s balloon. The views themsleves are lively and pleasing, with bustling crowds in the foreground of each.
