H.W. Woodward was Librarian of Brierley Hill,Staffordshire and Curator of the Glass Museum from 1938 to 1966.During that
period the glass collection increased from
200 to 800 pieces,forming a fine assembly concentrating on 19th Century British and foreign glass.A reference library,used by collectors and scholars from various parts
of the world,was built up.
Mr. Woodward from 1972 to 1974 was Keeper
of Glass and Fine Arts for Dudley County Borough.
He has written a number of booklets,
articles,and reviews relating to the glass
industry and local history.He has also lectured on these subjects for the WEA,and
Birmingham Extra Mural Department,apart from giving many talks to local organisations,and reading papers to the Glass Circle and to the VIIIth International Congress on Glass in London.
