The Bay of San Pablo is found to the north of San Francisco Bay, and Mare Island has since been terraformed into a peninsula.

Incidentally, Vallejo, marked here as the "Seat of the Government of California," only served as state capitol for about a year. Mare Island, however, was used as the major Naval shipyard of the West Coast until 1996.
