William White Limited published three editions of the Devon directory,in 1850,1878,and 1890. This is a part reproduction of the 1890 published edition.The original ran to 1328 pages,making it an uneconomic proposition to reproduce it in its entirety. The unique appeal of White's directories always lay in the excellence of the historical introduction to the villages,towns and cities.
