US,8vo HB,minus dw/dj,1st ed,1st state (Oct 1909).VG.Neat,handwritten ink owner name to front free endpaper which is also slightly foxed/spotted.Red buckram, pictorial colour blocked design to upper board with white blocked letters.A common fault is the white lettering to the spine/backstrip has disappeared,but in this case,probably due to the fact that 3/4th of the spine/backstrip is visibly darkened due in part to internal bleeding through from the signatures to the spine/backstrip,of glue used in the production process? Where not darkened,the spine/backstrip is sunned/faded with light bumping to both head+foot of same.Corners minimally bumped and rubbed with boards lightly grubbed.Top edge coloured(?)/aged with fore-edges lightly toned as usual/ normal; contents tight with some slight foxing throughout,as usual/normal,and a water stain(?) to pp84-5.US,8vo HB [approx 8.25" tall x 5.50" wide x 0.75" (2cm) thick],1st edn,1st state,1-121pp includes a tissue-guarded pictorial dark blue+white illustrated frntis by Albert Levering with tissue guard.On the verso of the title page is a list(18) of Twain's other works; red cloth,Crown 8vo,starting with Christian Science to Joan of Arc,and then a smaller list(7) with A Horse's Tale through to A Double-Barrelled Detective Story and a boxed/panelled copyright date Oct.,1909 towards lower edge.
