The Regis Hotel was a well-known hotel located in the Historic Center of Mexico City that disappeared because of the 1985 Mexico Earthquake . This old, very low-rise hotel began its trajectory from the beginning of the 20th century, it was designed in the neoclassical trend (artistic style inspired by Greco-Roman forms) and has since become popular among the inhabitants. The Hotel Regis, in addition to being popular, competed with the also famous Hotel del Prado, which was located a few steps from the Regis, perhaps the distinction between both hotels was the huge sign in the upper part of the Regis, which stated its name. This sign was accompanied by two capital letters "R", which were crowned and painted in a golden-yellowish color (?HR) . The sign was previously on the roof of the old part of the hotel until it was moved in 1955 to the roof of the modern wing of the hotel together with the "Capri Night Center" . This sign remained that way until September 19, 1985 where it was removed by machinery.. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover.
