'Predator's Gold' is the spellbinding sequel to 'Mortal Engines',winner of the Nestle Smarties Gold Award, and shortlisted for the Whitbread Award.Philip Reeve plunges us into a ruthless and terrifyingly believable world. . .
The Jenny was drifting across the shoulder of a big volcano.Beyond it there were no more mountains, just an endless blue-white plain stretching to the horizon. They were at the mercy of the wind, and it was carrying them helplessly into the Ice Wastes.
After two years of carefree travelling on the Bird Roads,a chance encounter leads Tom and Hester back into danger.Fleeing from the grim aviators of the Green Storm, the cold of the Ice Wastes seeping into their bones, they stumble on the icy city of Anchorage just in time. But Anchorage is not a safe refuge - devastated by plague, the city is barely lurching along, and the young margravine is making a last desperate bid for survival. She has set a course for the Dead Continent - America. . .
There are rumours of a lush haven growing from that blasted land, but the journey is a perilous one.For there are other rumours,of strange creatures, and ghosts walking on the High Ice; and there is the dreadful certainty of the savage Huntsmen of Arkangel. . .

Described hard but honestly and fairly not as detrimental as it reads or sounds.
Visually the exterior appearance is exceptional for a book of it's age and nature, i.e. a p/back,and even internally, the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation. It is only the faults described that prevent a higher grading.
London is on the move again. The city has been lying low, skulking in the hills to avoid the bigger, faster, hungrier cities loose in the Great Hunting Ground. The great town moves off after its quarry as events within the walls begin to take a sinister turn.A young assassin is stalking her own prey throught the city.Hester Shaw's plot is foiled by a young apprentice who has finally stumbled into a real adventure.Tom's blundering intervention leaves the pair stranded in the Out-Country,a sea of mud cored by the tracks of cities like the one now steaming off over the horizon.Staring back from the city in horror is Katherine,a sheltered Tier One girl who is about to grow up very fast.
