Ransome, Arthur : A History of Story-Telling - Studies in the Development of Narrative

T C & E C Jack, London, 1909

318 pages (complete). True first edition of this first collection of Ransome's series on the art of Story-telling. As published, A History of Story-telling contains Ransome?s introductions to The World?s Story-tellers, less those for Hoffmann, Flaubert, Daudet and Coppee: the latter three because those titles were not published until 1910. This copy has been much owned but is yet placid and comforting. The boards are scruffy, worn, scuffed, marked from storage and handling. They are secure. The titling is worn but benign. The contents are amiably aging. The front pastedown has a discreet previous owner label. The page trims are worn (even though they are rough cut) but sure. The pages have flushes of foxing - principally about their edges - throughout. Otherwise, the pages are genial, pleasant, clear, confident, thick, chipper. fk. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: No Jacket

First Edition.
