A fine copy in contemporary vellum, ink title to spine, Delft armorial in gilt centre each board. This has the bookplate of noted South African book collector Percival Bishop, who has inscribed the book to well-known South African art historian F L Alexander. Inserted loosely is a typewritten letter from Alexander, dated 1967, presenting the book in turn to a friend. In the letter he states that "This volume of Pomponiius Mel De Situ Orbis once belonged to Johannes de Wet (born 1794 and owner of the Koopmans-De Wet House......). Percival J. Bishop..... collector of South African Exlibris removed de Wet's exlibris, a vandalism spurned by later collectors. He presented the volume to me when I wrote "South African Bookplates".
