Very good indeed in the original pictorial wrappers as issued, some light dustsoiling and light wear to extremities else clean and tight. Early issues are scarce. London Life was published by New Picture Press in London from 1920 to 1960. New Picture Press was based at 7a Wine Office Court, which is an alley off Fleet Street by Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub. London Life started as a weekly published in a larger-than-A4 format, but war rationing forced it to drop frequency to fortnightly (1942) and then monthly; and its size to A5 (1942). London Life moved offices to Katesgrove, Reading, in 1941 but was back in London at 31 Craven St, Strand WC2, in 1945. London Life was infamous for readers' letters about dress fetishes (it was banned by the Irish government in 1932), but also deserves acclaim for the inventiveness of its mastheads in the 1930s and the quality of its reproduction and printing Click here for full details of this book, to ask a question or to buy it on-line.
