Second impression of the author's first adult novel. This copy somewhat cryptically inscribed by the author on the title page: "For John (not to be published). Penelope". 8vo. 216pp. Blue boards lettered and ruled in gold at the spine. A touch of very light bruising to the backstrip ends, and four numerals offset from the publisher's price sticker to the adjacent free endpaper. Very good indeed in dust wrapper, clipped and re-priced by the publisher, with two short edge-nicks and a light but lengthy horizontal crease to the base of the front panel. Short-listed for the Booker Prize (she would win it ten years later with 'Moon Tiger').. Book. Book Condition: Very Good. Binding: Hardcover.
