Green, blue, black, and beige illustrations on front and back covers respectively show a woman riding in a touring car on a tree-lined avenue and the ruins of Mission San Juan Capistrano. 5 1/2" x 8." Seventy-one pages, complete. Many small black-and-white illustrations (some have subtle orange colorized accents), complete. Pages are very clean and intact except for light age toning and a small closed tear on Pages 49-50. Covers are clean and intact overall but have light to moderate darkening, a few splits and chips along spine, and loosened binding (binding still holding though). A Very Good copy. This pamphlet promotes travel and tourism to California. Introductory descriptions praise California for being a "gateway to the Orient" and its commanding economic position relative to the rest of the United States. Other aspects of California are highlighted including its agriculture, climate, beaches, natural beauty, residences, food, and attractions. Some of the places pictured in the text are a Pasadena Ostrich Farm, several California missions, Hotel del Coronado, the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco, and Yosemite. Travel routes are suggested such as those through the Rock Island Lines, El Paso-Southern Western System, and Southern Pacific Company. Also given is advice about what clothes to bring on a trip to California. Text is divided into chapters with the following subtitles: "Helps and Hints for the Winter Tour and the Summer Vacation," "California South of Tehachapi: Riverside, Redlands, Los Angeles, Santa Catalina Island, San Diego and Coronado Beach," "Santa Barbara, Monterey, San Jose, Santa Cruz and the Leland Stanford Jr. University at Palo Alto," "San Francisco--The Building of a Metropolis," "The San Joaquin Valley and Yosemite National Park," and "In Which the Rock Island--El Paso Route to California Is Briefly Described--The Path of Health."
