Published as the twelfth report of the Lehranstalt für die Wissenschaft des Judenthums in Berlin, this collection of writings by Leopold Zunz, with commentaries by members of the School for the Scientific study of Judaism in Berlin, celebrates the innovations of the German Reform Rabbi Leopold Zunz (1794-1886) , who is considered the founder of “Jewish Studies" or "Judaic Studies" (Wissenschaft des Judentums) . Siegmund Maybaum (1844-1919) , the main editor and contributor to this volume, was the founder and president of the German Rabbinical Society, and considered in his time the “one of the most eloquent Rabbis in Germany. ” Subjects: Zunz, Leopold, 1794-1886.
