Very good copy, 8vo, 468 pp., Bound in 1/4 cloth & yellow paper over boards; outer hinges partially carcked but tight, "As teacher and writer, Mauthner was an authority on ophthalmoscopy, refraction, and motor anomalies of the eye; a renowned surgeon, he is credited with the introduction of sclerotomy for the treatment of glaucoma"(Albert, Source Book of Ophthalmology, p. 221). With the ownership siganture of prominent 19th-century Rochester physician, C.E. Rider; he was one of the founders of the American Otological Society, a prominent member of the American Ophthalmological Society, and a professor of Ophthalmology at the Geneva Medical School and later at Syracuse University.
