Original publisher's purple cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine. Lightly impressed decorations on front and back covers and spine. 5" x 7." 322 pages, complete. Two additional pages of the publisher's advertisements for other books in the back. Former ownership inscription in pencil on a front flyleaf facing the verso of the front free endpaper: "Sheldon, March 1879." Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Spine is a little faded with slight wear at the head and tail of spine. A collection of short stories with an introduction titled "Stories from a Dutch Town." There are three stories, "Abram Van Zandt, the Man in the Picture," "Mr. Schermerhorn's Marriage and Widowhood," and "Master Vorhagen's Wife." Listed in Wright III as no. 8414.
