Signed by Author(s)A letter of passage to the customs of France requesting assistance from the Embassy of the French Republique in London. Dated: 12 Janvier 1897. A letter template annotated and signed by the Charge 'affaire (Leon) Geoffray who, whilst in London, became convinced that a strong relationship between France and England should be formalised. It was his work on this that led to the Entente Cordiale. The letter is double folded. Franked: Ambassade de France a Londres - Republique Francais. The name of the traveller, the annotations and the destination customs offices (Calais and Paris) are in Geoffray's handwriting. The condition is good, sound, neat with no damage or wear.
