Bright,crisp,fresh and exceptionally clean,top corners sharp,front's lower corner with inevitable but very gentle pushing to corner's tip and with miniscule loss due to shelf-wear rubbing,miniscule shelf-wear to other lower corner,in the publisher's original burgundy cloth boards; with bright,crisp,blocked gilt circle with a bright,crisp,embossed gilt Ganesha (elephant head) device within,to the front/upper board and bright,crisp,non-oxidised,blocked gilt lettering to the spine/backstrip; rear panel plain and without decoration.Spine/backstrip bright,crisp,fresh and clean,appears uniform in colour and to be without sunning/fading,and no darkening.Whilst both head+foot of spine have gentle pushing with reciprocal creasing,there are no nicks,tears or splits to same.Top edge gilt,fore-edges with slight ageing/toning but no foxing/spotting; contents bright,tight,clean, solid and sound - virtually foxing-free to text body - no dog-ear reading creases to pages' corners.Plain white endpapers complete and intact,with no cracking or splits to either hinges but with minimal ageing and spotting to pastedowns and both the respective facing/ opposing free endpapers are with off-setting from them.UK,8vo HB,1st edn,v-xiipp+3-338pp [paginated] includes separate contents+ illustration lists/tables,a poem 'A CHARM', author's Introduction,11 stories with accompanying poetry/poems - includes the first appearance of the poem 'If',4 b/w illustrations by Frank Craig - all called for and present - interspersed throughout the book; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages,and individual story title separator pages,and to the rear,publisher's 10pp catalogue. Visually the exterior appearance is exceptional,and particularly internally,the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of it's age.
