Buy this book on-line KERI HULME : The Bone People. A novelSpiral, Wellington, 1983
First Edition (first state - not the subsequent second issue which appeared three months later and included a printed errata leaf and a slightly redesigned front cover). 8vo. 469pp. Card wrappers (not issued in casebound format until the UK edition of 1985). Issued without endpapers, with the title page acting as the first leaf. A little wear and creasing to the wrappers, and with a retail sticker ("New Zealand Book") to the base of the front wrapper. Former owner name inked to the head of the first leaf. Quite a nice crisp copy of the author's quite uncommon debut novel. It was rejected by numerous publishers before winning the 1985 Booker Prize (in rejecting the manuscript William Collins & Sons wrote "Undoubtedly Miss Hulme can write but unfortunately we don't understand what she is writing about")..
