Will Owen (b. 1869 - d. 1957) Born Malta, son of a naval officer.Studied at Lambeth School of Art.Owen's work remained well within the stylistic parameters of Edwardian humorous illustration, and his drawings often contained echoes of his better known contemporaries Phil May,Tom Browne and John Hassall. He tended to use heavy outlines and often experimented with spatter and other techniques to achieve tone. His full-page illustrations for magazines were very popular in their day and he enjoyed a long collaboration with the humorous writer W. W. Jacobs, but in many ways his style was best suited to the commercial and poster work that formed a large part of his output. An early and collectable item in Jacobs's and it's contemporary style and will be an important and welcome addition to his canon. Since April 2013 and in March 2015,again in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template, altering it's prices, weight allowances, dimensions and lowered it's qualifying compensation rates too!
