INNES**, MICHAEL [pseud. J.I.M. Innes]: : THE LONG FAREWELL

LONDON.GOLLANCZ,1958.

ISBN No ISBN.

UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn.NFINE/VG++.No owner inscrptn, and no price-clip to dw/dj. The book's dw/dj has obviously been in protective wrapping of some sort,as the typical Gollancz yellow with black+red letters dw/dj is exceptionally bright and clean for it's age (published 1958),and there is heavy browned/aged,dried, sellotape-residue marks to the half-title page and much less, and fainter marks to the recto of rear free endpaper. There is also some bleeding of similar partially,to spine/backstrip with more dried adhesive residue to front inner dw/dj flap also. [Described hard - but fairly and honestly - sounds worse than it reads!] Negligible creasing and miniscule rubbing to extremities/edges - no nicks or tears present.Head+foot of spine/backstrip minisculely bumped with reciprocal creasing.Top edge aged/darkened and dust- soiled with minimal foxing/spotting; fore- edges noticeably less so and therefore cleaner and brighter without the spotting/ foxing.Contents bright, tight and very clean - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners.Bright, clean, unblemished, red paper-covered boards with bright, crisp, blocked gilt letters to spine/ backstrip and immaculate plain white free endpaper and aforementioned, lightly marked rear endpaper.Apart from the residue faults - an exceptional, solid, sound copy of an uncommon title.UK,slim 8vo HB+dw/dj, 1st edn,9-206pp [paginated] +half-title+ title pages, contents list/table,Pts I-IV, and 2pp blanks to rear.A Sir John Appleby, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police crime novel.
