A fear of rats is common to many people -the yellow eyes and needle-sharp teeth arouse a terror which is not totally unfounded, for these animals possess a certain intelligence.Living alongside man since earliest times, they have become the focus for humanity's fear and loathing.
This novel predicts a time when rats gain an unnatural advantage over man.The after-effects of an atomic blast create a race of super-rats,mutated kin to the common species. They subjugate the 'ordinary' rats
and stir up hatred which has festered for thousands of years, hatred and resentment of man.
It is only when the bones of the first devoured victims are discovered that the true nature and power of these swarming black creatures with their razor-sharp teeth and taste for human blood begins to be realized by a panic-stricken city.
London is at their mercy, and who can forecast the outcome?
