Rebound (the boards of the book have been replaced) in sharp-cornered,plain white paper-covered boards/covers without any printed or tooled lettering and with negligible shelf-wear,bumping,creasing - no nicks tears or splits present.Boards/ covers with inevitable but slight grubbing and some slight discolouration to some edges,spine/backstrip lightly darkened and with a couple of fluid stains and sporadic spotting/foxing(?) to rear board's backstrip's edge and gutter,the rear board /cover with another residual longitudinal fluid stain near its top edge and immaculate plain white front endpapers and pastedown,no rear free endpaper or pastedown - as the last paged advert of the original four adverts,is pasted to rear board,thus acting as the pastedown. Top edges discoloured through dust-soiling with a few blemishes,fore-edges aged/ toned,as they're prone to and as usual/ normal and without foxing/spotting; contents bright,tight,clean with some occasional foxing/spotting,solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners,appears unread - apart from my own collation.UK, 8vo HB,rebound,1st edn,3rd imp,1-343pp [paginated] includes XLIV (44) chapters,plus [unpaginated] lightly foxed/ spotted verso+recto half-title,similarly affected title page,and to the rear of the book 4pp publisher's advert with last advert being the book titles by Anne Douglas Sedgwick,as the pastedown.Author's 4th of his six novels. An English novelist,short story writer, essayist and librettist.Many of his novels examine class difference and hypocrisy, including 'A Room with View.' (1908),this title and 'A Passage to India.' (1924). Forster was a member of the Bloomsbury Group in the 1910s to 20s. One of Forster's social novels concerned with different groups within Edwardian middle classes,represented by the Schlegels (Bohemian intellectuals),the Wilcoxes (thoughtless plutocrats) and the Basts (struggling lower-middle-class aspirants).
