First Edition (first printing) of the first volume of her celebrated 'Lark Rise to Candleford' trilogy. 8vo. 288pp. Brown cloth lettered and ruled in gold at the spine. Top edge lightly dust soiled and with just a touch of spotting to the fore edge (occasionally encroaching just a fraction to the leaf margins) and to the free endpapers. A little light partial browning to the half-title and final text leaf but a lovely crisp copy thereafter. Former owner name and date inked to the head of the front free endpaper. Very good in a somewhat distressed example of the uncommon dust wrapper, featuring two further Lamb drawings which do not appear in the text. The wrapper is price-clipped, and chipped with two one-inch sized portions of loss to the top edge, two further small areas of edge-loss, and a little dust soiling and chafing, several tiny closed tears and several small areas of surface abrasion..
