EDELHEIM, Margarete : Sudafrikanische Impressionen: Reiseberichte Fur Die C.-V.-Zeitung Mai-juli 1936

Philo Verlag, Berlin, 1936

Very good in in the original integral wrapper as issued, spine strengthened with clear tape, short tear adjacent upper front panel, the paper acid browned, horizontal fold mark across centre. A scarce publication by this important journalist and Jewish activist. Born Margarethe Meseritz in Berlin on September 18, 1891, she studied law and then worked as a journalist. She was married to John Edelheim from 1918 until his death in 1931, and was active in journalism, politics and Jewish affairs. In 1924 she became an editor and foreign correspondent for CV–Zeitung, serving as deputy editor–in–chief from 1934–1938, when she emigrated to the United States in 1938, where she continued her journalistic activities. She married Eduard Muehsam in 1946. She was a member of the board of directors of the Leo Baeck Institute, and died in New York City on May 26, 1975.
