First published in 1977 long after Isak Dinesen's death in 1962, a fifteen-year gap, her literary executors exercised great care in presenting a beautiful ensemble of stories to delight and enchant her millions of readers in English. One will bask in the gossamer dream-world Dinesen has created in such tales as "Uncle Theodore", "The DeCats Family", and a bedtime story "for grownups", "The Ghost Horses". The eponymous piece, "Carnival", and the final one, "The Second Meeting", are vintage Dinesen. An absolute "must-have" title for Isak Dinesen collectors. This title is a great book. This is one of few copies of the First American Edition/First Printing still available online and is in fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a beauty.
