An uncommonly presentable item,this example has survived exceptionally well, particularly with dw/dj and unusually, without the usual major discolouration and other imperfections usually encountered or expected in a children's book of this age. Frederick Sadleir Brereton,CBE,b. 5th August,1872 – d. 12th August,1957, was a decorated soldier and the author of boys' books on heroic deeds conducted in the name of the British Empire.Brereton was a prolific author,in his lifetime,he had written somer 40-odd books.
