Beautiful green 3/4 leather binding with marbled, green paper-covered boards. Silver foil swirls within the marbling. Gilt lettering and two small gilt floral decorations on spine. Gilt decorative lines on boards. No date, circa 1955-1971. 4 3/4" x 7 1/2." Fifty-seven pages, complete. Blue and white illustrations, complete. Bookbinder's name printed in black ink on verso of the front free endpaper in upper-left corner, "Maurin." Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Fading to spine and edges of the other leather portions (faded portions appear brown). Slight offsetting on the corners of the pages from the binding, not affecting text or illustrations. A Very Good copy. Back colophon: "This book has been set in Granjon Types, decorated with cuts after Thomas Stothard, R.A., and printed on specially-made Peter Pauper Press paper." William Blake's famous collection of poems which are divided into two parts, "Songs of Innocence," and "Songs of Experience." Many of the poems juxtapose childhood innocence with worldly iniquity..
