Series: Die Historie von König David, ein Zyklus. Richard Beer-Hofmann (b. 1866 Vienna, d. 1945 New York ) was an Austrian-Jewish dramatist and poet. He studied law in Vienna, graduating in 1890. That same year he became acquainted with the writers Hugo von Hofmannsthal , Hermann Bahr and Arthur Schnitzler , beginning a long friendship and period of literary activity. From the 1920s until 1932 he was also a director for Max von Reinhardt. He received many literary prizes, including the Volksschillerpreis in the year 1905 in Germany. In 1939 he fled to New York, by way of Zurich, all his works becoming banned in Nazi Germany & Austria. SUBJECT(S): Jacob (Biblical patriarch) -- Drama. Expertly rebound, preserving the original oversize boards. Some stains to paper including some text in the inscription (not the autograph), and light wear to boards, Good+ Condition. (G-1-21)
