Many of his cartoons reflect his personal disquiet and have a far more particular meaning than is at first apparent: they offer not only a wonderful portrait of society in his time but also a remarkable insight into his own concerns and feelings.                             The book is carefully illustrated with over two hundred cartoons in colour and black and white which are closely integrated with the text: some will be familiar, others are less well known and appear here for the first time.   The author pays tribute to a unique and powerful talent and holds a revealing mirror up to the awkward and complex nature of the man who was H. M. Bateman. The author's wife,Lucy,is the granddaughter of H.M. Bateman. He has worked closely over a number of years with the artist's family to research this book which contains some previously unprinted drawings, paintings and writings from the family archive.          Please contact selle, because of the weight/value of this item, for correct, insured shipping/ P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page!
