Roberts, Sheila : The Weekenders

Bateleur Press, 1981

ISBN 062005168X

143 pages (complete). Sheila Roberts was one of the more important South African writers whose writings were critical of the apartheid regime in South Africa. This novel, "The Weekenders" was later anthologised by J. M. Coetzee and Andre Brink in "A Land Apart". Her novel "He's My Brother" was banned by the South African government. This led to her exile in the United States. Ironically her banning ensured the success of the keeping of her green card! This copy is neat and comfortable. The dustjacket, however, is worn and scuffed. It is entire and whole and secure. The black board cover is smart and tidy. The pages are clear, clean, firmly bound, confident and assured. fk. Book Condition: Good. Binding: Hardcover. Jacket: Poor
