Robert Harris was a Welsh born Canadian artist most known for his portrait of The Fathers of the Confederation. He was commissioned to do the paintaing early in his career in 1883 and established his reputation as a portrait artist. He was a founding member of the Royal Canadian Academy. The painting was installed in the original parliment building in 1884 and then it was destroyed by the fire in 1916. The central figure of the painting is Sir John A. MacDonald. He has a document in his hand. George Cartier is sitting to his right. Hector Langevin is sitting across the table. George Brown in the front row. Charles Tupper has a document in his hand. The print is a sepia color lithograph. The lithograph is likely produced circa 1890s.

The Fathers are assembled around the large table composed facing the artist. The central figure is that of John A. MacDonald
