An uncommon map of Hamburg, with an extensive key. The map was published during the Napoleonic War, when Luffman issued a number of works warning about the dangers of Napoleon and his attempt to isolate Britain from the rest of Europe. In 1806 Napoleon instituted the Continental System, an embargo on British Trade, and in 1810 the French took Hamburg, closing another port to British merchants.
