Paper, handwriting, and signature are clean and intact. Paper reads: "Amos Kendall, 4th Auditor, Treasury US, 17 July 1829. Enclosing letter from Secretary of the Navy Pension Fund on the subject of MC [...] Pension." Amos Kendall (1789-1869) was an American journalist, politician, and lawyer. He was an influential figure in the 19th-century American news media industry and used his skills in journalism to help propel the Democratic Party onto the national stage. He served as the U.S. Postmaster General for President Andrew Jackson and was an advisor in Jackson's "Kitchen Cabinet." Kendall also served as Postmaster General in President Martin van Buren's administration and was the 4th Auditor of the U.S. Treasury.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Collectible-Very Good.
