This is an important early map of upper Canada with districts and counties shown.
Published by John Arrowsmith, founder member of the Royal Geographical Society.
John Arrowsmith joined his uncle (Aaron) in 1810, but after his uncle's death he opened his own establishment. In 1795, his uncle published a large four-sheet map of North America which was dedicated to the Hudson's Bay Company, as he was their official mapmaker. Later on, in 1834, John produced his first map of British North America based on his uncle's great four-sheet map. This map was published in all editions of the 'London Atlas' from 1834 until 1858 with frequent updates and revisions.

This map focuses on the Great Lakes, extending from lake Superior and lake Michigan in the West to Vermont on the East. Also, New York state is depicted in detail. It is a finely engraved and nicely colored map.
