A particularly well preserved example from that era of Golden Age of girl's fiction,in really exceptional condition. May Wynne [b. 1875 - d. 1949] a highly prolific author of formulaic juvenile fiction, mostly animal and girls' school stories and adventures, who also wrote some adult historical fiction, was active in the first half of the 20thC.Within her lifelong involvement in a mission church, St. Luke's in the Victoria Docks,London, she wrote specifically to raise money for that organisation. In all a total of some 200+ books.Considering the church mission involvement, her early titles emphasised moral improvement and the later girl and school stories changed to emphasis on dramatic adventure. The school heroines from these novels found secret passages, jewels, met and overcame a variety of villains.Although prolific, her works are overlooked but nevertheless an item in Wynne's style and will be an important and welcome addition to that canon. Since April 2013 and again in March 2015, and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template, altering it's prices, weight allowances, dimensions and lowered it's qualifying compensation rates too!
