Original boards with original dust jacket. 8vo. Pages 11-77; 21 cm. Written in German. Title translates to “Verses of a Jew. ” A collection of Jewish poetry. Dedicated to all of the fighters for a Jewish state. Divided into 5 sections. Georg Mannheim was an Austro-Czechoslovakian journalist and writer. He worked for Bohemia, a daily newspaper, as a political reporter but quit after Nazi powers censored the content of the paper. He founded a magazine called Truth, “In which he led a journalistic struggle against fascism in Europe without political consideration” (Wikipedia, 2016) . He was blacklisted by the Nazis and placed on their list of banned authors and books. He was arrested in September 1940 and sent to Dachau where he died in 1942.
