First Edition (first printing). 8vo. [iii], 320pp. Reddy-pink cloth lettered in white at the spine and upper board with a white stamped rule and the publishers red top edge stain. The title page printed in red and black. A vertical crease to the upper board, a touch of wear to the backstrip ends, and a tiny area of fading to the top edge stain. The rear hinge cracked and a little tender, and a touch of spotting and toning to the free endpapers. A good copy. No dust wrapper, but housed in a custom-made slipcase with a gilt lettered leather title label. The author's uncommon first book, published whilst he was still a Cambridge undergraduate.. Book.
