Buy this book on-line Hood Esq., Thomas : The Comic AnnualCharles Tilt, London, 1831
176 pages (complete). The second issue of Hood's Comic Annual (he began it in 1830). Almost entirely his own work the writing still works and can stir smiles and gentle, polite chuckles : "Well, I confess, I did not guess / A simple marriage vow/ Would make me find all womenkind/ Such unkind women now!/ They need not, sure, as distant be / As Java or Japan, - / Yet ev'ry Miss reminds me this - / I am not a single man!" and so on. Despite much wear, scuffing, marking and knocking about, this is a persistently happy book. The board and leather cover is considerably worn - but is secure and genial. Within, the contents too have wear and marks, plus some foxing, but they are otherwise mischievous, clear, assured, entertaining and affable. fk. Book Condition: Poor. Binding: Hardcover.
