The dissertation in philosophy of Lazar Gulkowitsch, presented under the auspices of the Publications of the Research Institute for Comparative Religious History at the University of Leipzig, Series 2, issue 6. Lazar Gulkowitsch (1898-1941) was an eminent Jewish Studies scholar, chair of the Jewish Studies department at Leipzig in the 1920’s and 1930’s. “Hasidism, religious studies examined” is a historical exposition of Hasidism with an emphasis on the study of mysticism, a tendency Gulkowitsch was critical of.
