The publication date is printed on the wrappers. 234 pp., + [6] pp. publisher's adv. 8vo., printed paper wrappers. Pencil ownership on upper wrapper. Text leaves are lightly and evenly toned, with some occasional, light foxing in margins. The wrappers are sunned at spine and edges, starting at folds, edgeworn at heel and crown, and partially detached. Nonetheless, a very good copy of an unauthorized American edition from the firm which eventually became the United States Book Company ("a huge organization which combined legitimate and unethical publication methods with varied and contradictory enterprise") and preceding the authorized Barrie editions which were published by Charles Scribner's Sons, starting in 1896.
