First edition Oblong small 4to., (64) pp., 27 full-page b&w photos. Illustrated stiff wrappers. Faint foxing along edge of endpapers, slight fading to edge of wrappers, else very good. Photographer, teacher, Via Wynroth took these portraits in a 'shelter-care' home and its sister nursing home where she worked as a social worker for two years. She received her M.F.A. degree form the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; she was the Director of Education at the International Center of Photography in New York for a number of years. Book is dedicated to Cornell Capa and inscribed on the title page by the subject of one of her photographs :" Bernie, I am deeply gratfeul for having saved my life by guiding me to a wonderful and nourishing place"..
