On offer is a super, original manuscript relic of Masonic history being: an 1872 bound handwritten manuscript book titled: 'Epitomy of the Life of Saint Bernard', Compiled and respectfully dedicated to St. Bernard Commandery Boston, Mass. By Sir John W. Moore, Chief Engineer, U. S. N 1872 [First Edition]. The 30 page manuscript was read at a regular meeting of St Bernard Commandery 9th October 1872. There is a bookplate of the Grand Lodge A.E. & A.M. of Massachusetts on front paste down endpaper. The 8 x 10 inch book is bound in green cloth covered boards, title in gilt on the spine, light shelf wear to extremities, remnant of library tag on cover but overall G+. One online source provides: "Bernard of Clairvaux, O. Cist (1090 - August 20, 1153) was a French abbot and the primary builder of the reforming Cistercian order. Bernard traced the outlines of the Rule of the Knights Templar who soon became the ideal of Christian nobility. …". Manuscript. Book Condition: Good+
