Starting in 1857, he was a longtime agent for Wells Fargo, first serving in Shasta County and later in Sacramento from 1868-1900. He also served on the Sacramento Board of Education beginning in 1874. In this letter to his daughter, Mary Tracy (?-1953), written soon after his retirement, Felix shows that he is still very active and has a strong, inquisitive mind. Writing from Pacific Grove, he opens his letter by telling his daughter, "We are having a feast (mentally) of good things." The day before, he and his companions had traveled to Monterey and met a missionary headed back to China. He writes of this missionary, "Her account and experience with the Chinese was very interesting. She sang some familiar hymns in the Chinese language ...." Felix also writes about having recently attended some Chautaugua courses. The pamphlet by Livingston is a concise biography of Tracy's life and career.. Manuscript.
