382pp (+30pp publisher's catalogue.) :: Tipped-in map of Concord prior to title page :: 200mm x 130mm (8" x 5") :: Born in Concord, Massachusetts in 1817, Thoreau graduated from Harvard in 1837 and took up teaching and lecturing. From 1835, he recorded his walks and observations in a daily journal which eventually extended to 30 volumes. After his death in 1862, a number of books were published from these journals, of which this is one, VG- condition without dust jacket. (Corners rubbed. Slight scuffing to backstrip. Light foxing of untrimmed edges.)
