A large scale impressive detailed map of western Canada, it extends from Hudson's Bay to the West Coast.. Th. Devine, the prominent Irish Canadian surveyor,in compiling this map, has used the geographical information provided by J. Arrowsmith, D. Thompson, Sir A. MacKenzie, admiralty charts etc.
The map provides information from the time of the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713 to the present time of the map in 1857. This includes routes of explorers and the changes in political boundaries and important forts, as well as range information on game animals, geological and mining information, climate and annual rainfall.

Also some information on the Indian population of British North America and the number of the Native Indian tribes is given.
