Very good set in full contemporary red leather, 8vo, Introduction and notes by Edward Capell (spines read Capell's Shakespeare).Capell was the first editor to start from scratch with the text, writing out each play word by word, rather than just marking up the edition of his predecessor. The last volume, the Poems, is bound uniformly with the others but is not part of the original set; it is undated but contemporary with the others and published by Thomas Evans with an engraved portrait of Shakespeare on the title page.
