Based on this novel,the 1944 Universal Pictures b/w film 'THE SUSPECT' was directed by Robert Siodmak.It starred Charles Laughton,Rosalind Ivan and Ella Raines,as Mr & Mrs Marshall and Mary Gray as the platonic love interest, respectively.Set in Edwardian London in 1902.
