8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. On offer is a large, archive of 120+ original intimate handwritten letters to and some from Chicago artist and illustrator Robert William Addison [1924 - 1988] spanning the years from just prior to World War II through 1959. A group of 3 or 4 regular correspondents including parents and wife, comprise a large part of the archive but then there are just a few letters and cards by Robert and a group of letters kept separate and obviously had some significance and for example we note a harsh letter from his dad for an indiscretion towards his mother in one case. Included ephemera: a number of photos, 30+, mostly identified, mostly the war years, a youthful drawing of a man in a car, and the photo it was drawn from. Researchers and historians interested in the Boise years will find Boise material in the family photographs. Even casual research finds a wealth of information on this noted illustrator who served stateside during the war, as part of the team producing war posters, graphics and similar materials.
