This history of the Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel was written largely by Rabbi Howard Fineshriber and includes many notes about how the congregation was formed and how it grew. Included is a list of the officers of the congregation and the board of trustees (including honorary trustees) , the presidents, rabbis, assistant rabbis and the readers over the 100 year history.   Chapter One, “The Formative Period 1847-1861, ” ends with the arrival of David Einhorn, who arrived at the Synagogue after having been run out of Baltimore by a mob because of his anti-Slavery preaching. Half of Chapter two is devoted to the history of Einhorn at the Synagogue (he left in 1866) . An important privately printed history, seldom seen in the trade.
