Flexible black leather-covered boards bound with black string. Gilt lettering reads, "Photographs," on front cover. Photographs are tipped in on black paper. No date, circa 1920s-1940s. 8 1/2" x 5 1/2." Forty-nine leaves (a few have photos on both sides). 105 black-and-white photographs. Photos are virtually and intact except for age toning and slight rippling. Pages are very clean and intact except for slight rippling throughout and slight wear to extremities. Covers are clean and intact overall have light rubbing and slight wear to corners and edges. A Very Good copy. Personal photo album of Victor "Vic" Ernest Polzin (1906-2001), a resident of Napa, California. Victor was married to Kathleen and served in the military during World War II. This photo album contains 105 photographs of Victor's family and friends; self-portraits; and scenes from his travels, many of which appear to have been taken while he was on military tour during WWII. The photos have beautifully hand-lettered captions in white ink, likely by Victor. Victor's name and address are handwritten on inside of front cover: "Victor Polzin, 1418 Calistoga Avenue, Napa, California." This address was the Polzin family home. Victor's father was Friedrich "Fred" Karl (also spelled, "Carl") Polzin (1866-1925) and his mother was Sophia Margaret Ketelson (1868-1959). Friedrich was born in Pommern, Germany, immigrated to the United States, and eventually found his way to Iowa where he met Sophia. Sophia was born in Quentin, Ohio and moved with her family to Lincoln, Iowa. Friedrich and Sophia were married in Manning, Iowa and moved afterward to Netawaka, Kansas and Twin Falls, Idaho before finding their permanent home in Napa, California where they became prominent residents. Friedrich and Sophia had ten children, including Victor. Victor's siblings were Johanna "Hanna" Christina Polzin (1892-1973), Henry August Polzin (1894-1961), Elsie Katherine Polzin (1896-1967), Bertha Pauline Anna Polzin (1898-1985), Arthur Herman Polzin (1900-1978), Clara Margaret Polzin (1903-2002), Frederick Carl Polzin II (1905-1978), Irene Lydia Polzin (1908-2002), and Ruth Marie Polzin (1910-1981).
